we all know it's been an irritation for years, however, i am certain that over the past years the attempts have gotten really creative in most absurd ways.
for instance, i just received this one:

the url doesn't work
the no more plz gets you to a unsubscribe form which is probably a subscribe form
the list of words goes on and on, god only knows why
of course i don't know what this is about or who harriet is.
so the only point i can see to this is they are trying to irritate me into filling out the form after which they will irritate me for real.
does this strategy really work? does playing the numbers game like this ever, ever pay off? can some people be so gullible to really think other people are so gullible?
some of the other stuff i've received is even less coherent - i can't even figure them out to a point where i can get mad about it 🙄
this must be the paragon of free dementerprise!
anyone else have some choice junk email to share?
in friendship,
prad
I used to get so upset about junk emails that I don't open a one of them anymore. I go to my account everyday and delete the 50+ junk messages then read the 1 or 2 real ones. At one point I spent a total of 3 hours (believe me I was watching the clock) unsubscribing to every junk email that I had. Needless to say I found that doesn't work. So I just ignore them now, delete them out of my life everyday only to do the same thing the next day, and the next, and the next. 🙄

This comes from the Enlargers (allies of the Viagra sellers). Put the word 'enlarge' in your spam filter and they cannot trouble you any more.
Yes, their strategy works as long as you can send 1.000.000 emails for free.
Small is beautiful 🙂

I use to get a few each week, but now its down to maybe one every month or two and that's from a sister corporation of another company. I could unsubscribe from this one but feel its not critical to do so. The biggest thing I have found to work is never giving your e-mail address out in the first place and if you do, make sure they have a strict 3rd party policy and hold them to it.
Never "unsubscribe" - all this does is confirm your email address is active - and makes you more likely to be spammed. The awful truth...

Originally posted by SkipSlotThen you were lucky. There are moderate spammers where that can work. But you better don't take that risk. As Russ said the unsubscribe tool is often misused to find out if the email address exist. And also, to find out if the user reads the spam email. When you unsubscribe, they have a proof. Your address becomes valuable and can be sold.

Originally posted by rgoudieI can absolutely endorse that. I have been a 'mailwasher' user since its creation and the beauty is that not only can you nuke all your spam at the server but it 'bounces' the spam back to the sender's address with' not a valid client' message They hate that and you get unsubscribed real quick.
May I suggest MailWasher, available from http://www.mailwasher.net/. When set up properly, it eliminates 100.0% of my spam before my e-mail client starts its download.

It's a free download and to get rid of the ads a small donation ($10} will suffice. skeeter
