I have in my mp3 collection a techno version of the moonlight sonata, with a little fur elise tossed in for good measure.

I was listening to "baba o'riley" otherwise known as teenage wasteland by the who, and I was struck by how much the end sounds like techno.

Musically, it was dead before it began, so I must agree with you on technical grounds. That being said, I believe there are still people who actively enjoy it. May you be protected from such "ravers".

Techno will never die! Never!

What do you mean 'Techno'? Do you mean all electronic music? Do you mean 'C&C Music Factory' and 'Everybody Dance Now'? Do you mean House music? Do you mean rave culture?

Expand and I will give my opinion.

Ah, forget it. I'll give it to you anyways. Yes, it's ALL dead. Like all those terrorists I killed.

If you need a glow stick and water bottle to listen to it for 27 hours at the club... it's techno.

Are there still raves going on? In Toronto, they died a painful and righteous death about 6 years ago. I guess they're probably still going on in some places. But why?

I get so mixed up with all the music nowadays deep house acid trance hip hop break beat... what happened to the metal heads vs the people who liked westlife and such? Even the gothic genre has gone strange everyone is listening to ebm (which I like anyway) cyber goth and all.

So if you could give me a description of what techno and cross reference it with something that passes with techno today i`ll still be confused.

so no idea if techno lived or breathed and then died. But I like hard fast beats and gothic industrial...

*wow that really doesn`t help the thread but hey who cares!

I think Shansu has the handle on what techno is all about. Techno is as techno does. Including whistles, lollipops and, in some cases, adult diapers.

The goths did get a bit techno-ey. Then again they never did have any taste.
