I have been on this site for only a relatively short time. I should like to start by saying thank you to the following people
Gilbert - for being true to me until nearly the end; and of course for buying me my Pawn Star
Linda - for being a good enough friend to tell me when i was wrong but always with love
Mark - for being honest and funny and kind
Doug - for making me see my faults and giving me a future to look forward to

All of my opponents for the many good games I have played with them, win lose or draw they have been enjoyable

I will not open up old wounds or arguments regarding cheating but would like to finally put the matter straight regarding me. As i more than anyone took some nasty and unwarranted abuse in the forums.
I was advised to deliberately start the original debate with Schliemann to get noticed on the forums, both Dave and myself were frequently out of order and my main regret is that we did not play chess together.

I have never ever used a chess engine on RHP - nor would I.
I have used books and databases and pretended to not know what I was doing - this applies to the game with bbarr - I won fairly on the board but did maybe fool him with some of my comments during the game. I apolgize. he is a great player.

I only personally know of 2 instances of "cheating" on RHP - I am involved in 1 not the other. (By giving advice)

There is much to praise about RHP but the biggest weakness has been Russ and Chris allowing untrue accusations - this does seem to have improved recently but it is probably true to say that while a site with 25,000 + members will have its share of rogues there will always be more bad losers than cheats on here.

Janey,

I will allways remember you as one of the greatest chess talents I have ever encountered. As your coach I spent more time with you than any other person on RHP and know what I am talking about and that you are not fake.

You made misstakes on RHP, but big mistakes you share with big personalities, like you are one. Work on your weaknesses and become even brighter.

Take care. you have my email.

with love
sinner.

OK here is the post word for word as Julia told me to write it -

"I apologise for what I have done to Julia. I misused knowledge about her, that I obtained from someone else, to find her email password, and through the email I was able to obtain her RHP password to post in her name and change her profile to show a semi-nude picture of her that I uploaded in a URL. I did this as what I considered a joke. I realize now that this is not a joke but humiliating and totally unacceptable, an act for which I should be banned. If I am still here it is thanks to her. I am aware that any further inappropriate behaviour from my side will lead to a permanent removal of the site. Janey."

See you take sides soon.
Get back on the fence.
No offence intended, but why does everyone have a view, but no one spoke when Dave was going on?I really feel Janey deserves more.

Thank you Linda - I will send you the mail where Lioness said if I posted her text she would allow me to stay on RHP- I didn't know she had her own moderator police 🙂

The idea of moderation is to try and avoid people being offended by posts. A post which apologised to Julia but also contained other 'allegations' was, in my view, worth checking out with Julia herself. She has given me her views and asked me to remove the whole thing. Gilbert has also told me that I've done the right thing. I don't see this as taking sides. With regard to ancient history of anything that might have been said by Dave - I was not a moderator then so had no idea what posts where deleted or why.

Funny thing about this world we live in-- finger-pointing begets more finger-pointing, and the end result is an atmosphere of distrust that will eventually spread throughout the community. And that is the key word here-- community. I had always believed that all of us were here for the same reason-- to play chess and to enjoy interacting with people from all over the world who share our passion for the game. I have been here long enough to see several soap-operas come and go, and that is precisely why I have been absent from the forums for so long. Am I taking sides? No. I am on the side of THIS SITE, and I sincerely want to see this site reach its full potential. Russ and Chris are already doing more than their share in that regard-- now it is up to the rest of us to show them that their work is not wasted.

Those who follow Eastern religions are well aware that every action we make in this world has repercussions. If everyone thinks in those terms before choosing a course of action, if everyone would at least try to put themselves in the other person's shoes, then there should be no problem, should there?

Simplistic? Yes. Idealistic? Yes. Naive? I hope not.

If things continue the way they are going, people WILL leave this site and look for greener grass elsewhere. And that would be a shame.
