Nice post, you lucky sod, although, I was in Piazza Brà, Verona, and it was almost as much fun there.
😉
Seriously though the Italian fan I sat next to was from Verona. By the way, I was in an Italian shirt as my wife is half Italian.
Bravo Italia

Great game, shame about Zidane, looked like he pissed in his whole team's Cheerios, all credit to Italy though what superb defence!
Congratulations to Italy, well deserved, etc. Just shows what a team can do rather than a bunch of individuals.
But, how many people (apart from Italian fans) can say they thought Italy would win after the first round?
Or even France get to the final - they looked for a moment like they might not make the second round!
There were no really exceptional teams, from what I could see.
Any of the teams from the quater finals plus probably Spain and Holland could have competed well against either team in the final, and would also have made worthy winners.
Still, at least it shows the competition was close!
Overall it's been a good World Cup, not a classic, but a good one. I think the best team won. OK, not whiter than white but they didn't commit any brutal assaults on the pitch. There were some questionable decisions but only a few games were literally changed as a result. I think good and bad decisions tend to even themselves out over the course of a competition. Italy had a lucky penalty against Australia, France's penalty yesterday to my mind seemed dubious.
I don't think too many people can have too many complaints about it. Small gripes, Ronaldo Rooney etc, things that will run and run. But, on the 9th July 2006, Italy proved that they are, without being perfect and to everybody's liking, the best team in the world.

I just am OK. Basta con i dubbi!

You mean last night, right? The match against the USA had a real shocker in it.
Edit: Not trying to cover it up, justify it etc, but one was an idiotic, immature challenge for the ball, without intent to hurt. The other was a deliberate attack with no relevance to winning the ball or gaining a playing advantage.
Thuggery vs stupidity.
