Penalties - France.
Let's hope there's none of this

eh?
Looking at it again, it's still hard for me to understand all the outrage about that Italy-Australia play. Neill throws his body in front of Grosso's run and misses the ball. Grosso chooses to exaggerate the (inevitable) contact and fall over. A voluntary tumble, to be sure, but I'd say in that case the contact was initiated by Neill's failed challenge, and Grosso just played it up.
Compare that to many of the other dives on the video, where there's negligible contact or no contact at all. Seems like a sigificant difference to me.
I'd say that what Grosso did against Australia was comparable to what Henry did with Carvalho that led to the France penalt against Portugal-- of course Henry had no chance of avoiding that contact with Carvalho, but there's little question in my mind that he made the most of the contact that did occur.
I say they just make the ball 5 times bigger and make one rule:
- If you get the ball in the goal, it's one point.
Nothing else matters
edit: but if things are going to stay. They should start with penalty kicks and that's your starting score. Or the goal gradually gets bigger as the game goes on until it's the entire end line.

my prediction is italy in extra time. i think their defence is too strong to breakdown, which gives them the edge.
i also predict that within the first 5 minutes of the kick off, the commentator from ingerlund will refer to the 1966 world cup final.
But France is gonna win.
ZIDANE!!!
