Well, someone (as in Ravello) took this all personal and... sh.. sh... stuff! 😠

What makes you think that I took it personal?
I expressed my opinion about your absurd statement which said that Italy sucked in this game.
Then I suggested that you'd better stick to other things rather than discussing soccer.
You stay to soccer discussions like an elephant stays to a feather.

Why do you call it soccer?
Anyway, what a fantastic, exciting game-- intense, physical and hotly contested without being dirty.. The Italian defense once again came up big, especially the amazing Cannavaro (though Materazzi was surprisingly solid and Buffon was Buffon). It looked like Italy's subs turned the tide.
The ref Archundia did a very good job overall too-- used his cards wisely and kept things under control without taking over the game.
Great, great game. I wish I had it recorded so I could go watch it again from beginning to end.
Originally posted by clive59You really should get over it. Ask anyone who is not Australian and not biased towards any team that plays Italy (The Poms), we (Australia) did not deserve to win that game. Seriously, 1 man advantage and we did not even trouble the Italian defence. If they didn't get the penalty, they would of won it in extra time. We did really well, we should leave it at that and not hang onto the "we are victims" thing. Im proud of the Aussies. I have been following Australian soccer all my life. But we were beaten. Simple.
No, it's Italy that shouldn't have gotten this far. See my flag for details.
Originally posted by stockenI hate all that over acting too (speaking generally rather than this match) where they pretend to be 10 year old girls that have been hit with a sledge hammer then 3 mins later they are sprinting for balls. I only saw the first half, but what did impress me was they were playing quite fairly in a sportsmanlike manner and also the referee was letting them get on with it (ie no booking until quite near half time) was the second half the same?
Oh, stuff it! Italy and Portugal are a bunch of actors and you know it. Me, personally, I kinda like players like Rooney (although he did step over the line the other day). Strong, rough and fighting. Not falling on every slight touch, rolling on the ground playing injured even though replay shows nothing really happened.
I can only hope that France makes the last two games now or I'll be truly depressed over here for at least 15 full minutes. 😞

Good man! Any recommendations to improvements to a football match??? Personally I feel it could use a herd of those goodlooking horny cheerleaders....
Refs swallow the whistles.
Players get carded for faking an injury to milk the clock.
After the match is over, the losing team has to stay on the field throughout the winning team's celebrations. After the winning team has cleared the field, lions are released from behind the goals and all exits are sealed for the losing team.
Originally posted by Derfel CadarnI think lions might be too expensive to keep and also they would poo everywhere, as the slightest touch seems to half kill footballers and easily fell them, butterflys might be a more efficient option, oscars could be awarded for the most convincing injury antics

"Major Theater Company / Italians WANTED"
What a disgrace, really. The more I witness little sparks of the talent the Italians have in the field, the more I hate them for being so selfish with the crowd. Yikes!
That's how it starts, soon you'll be offering handjobs on street corners and selling crack to get it 😞
Originally posted by RavelloI was very dissapointed that this exciting game ended so abruptly, and by the team I reaaaaally did not want to see in the finals. I allowed my feelings to show and you get all personal about it.

Either you like to offend (yes, I know that's probably it) or you were personally offended.
Today is another day. Italy played rather well for a change. I still don't like that team.
For me it's not about the country Italy and all italians. It's about that team. I really don't think they've played well enough to deserve a place in the finals. You may agree or not, but please don't lower yourself to personal attacks.
And it's not soccer. If all italians refer to it as soccer, perhaps that explains a thing or two about this team. It's football. It's football all over the world except the US. It's supposed to be a technical and beautiful game maneuvering a ball with the feet (and for some strange reason the head is allowed 😕 ), yet played by men or women with straight backs and a strong will to win using their actual skill with the ball and their ability to co-operate with the other team members. Actors will find the respect they deserve on the theatres and in the movies.
Originally posted by stockenActually, Italians refer to it as "calcio." I would think an expert on Italian soccer like yourself would know that.

And no, it's not "football all over the world except the US." Australians usually call it soccer, and so do Canadians, and I believe many South Africans do as well.
