Superman is always a super handsome guy and that is just a ridiculous, and boring. Why isn’t he a plumber with a lisp from Krypton 🤷‍♂️

I’m not all into super hero movies but I am into cinema generally, and this one will bomb imo.
To be fair Hollywood is bombing generally because it keeps pumping out terrible cringe; Star Trek Academy for example.

But if you like it then that’s great, honestly 👍🏼
I like the posters I've seen.

We're all used to Superman and his Truth, Justice and the American Way... The new Supergirl poster says

Truth.

Justice.

Whatever.

Jackie Brown - One of my favourite films - great soundtrack too.

Since the Culture Forum disappeared, I've kinda been wondering where we could post movie trailers.

I guess this is the place.

June 26, 2026 will see a new type of Supergirl open in theaters, the antihero. This is not your mom's Supergirl. This is my type of Supergirl, this looks like a great version of Supergirl, and she is totally badass. Enjoy.

I've been bored with superhero movies for a long time. They're all the same.

Hand to hand combat in Superman/Girl films is pointless. Who wants to see punching and kicking from characters who can level cities and lift mountains? Give them something more interesting to do.

This flick might work if they can avoid the "girl boss" trope.

Agreed. Why should creatures with super powers have to stoop to fist fights ??

It's comic books, man.

They were initially made for young people, mainly boys, and so the "beat 'em up" theme was rampant, like the same in some Saturday morning westerns.

I dunno about the "girl boss" trope, but hey, sometimes the girl IS the boss.

I get it, though. Men don't like to hear it.

O! Well, that explains everything! I skipped comics as a kid. I joined the chess club. And my favorite Saturday morning TV show was not the Lone Ranger, but Professor Proton.

Just to be clear, there's a difference between a "girl boss" trope and a badass female. Angelina Jolie in "Salt", Beatrix Kiddo, etc; are badasses.

A girl-boss is kind of like a Mary Sue:

https://www.filmmining101.com/articles/the-modern-girl-boss-trope-conversative-myth-or-woke-ignorance

woman, one who does not need a mentor, training, or the necessary physique to achieve extraordinary feats of physical prowess. This character cannot make any mistakes and if she does, it matters not. Anyone who dares to opposes her (obvious) mental and physical superiority is a sexist (if they are male) or self-loathing (if they are female).

A "girl boss" is kind of cliche instead of a fully developed, human character.

Ok, I see your distinction.

God knows I needed a lot of mentoring/training, but I was fortunate enough to get it. I put enough muscle on to be told I was looking "too butch" and should lighten up a bit. I've gotten more than my share of busted/fat lips and black eyes. I was even pulled aside at work by a supervisor and given the names of a few people who could help me with any "domestic abuse" problems. I lol'ed at one woman who could only be described as a "church lady" type, and was told it was no laughing matter.

Funny thing is, I was called a "Mary Sue" on these very forums before.

But I get what you're saying, the unbelievable boasting, or in cinema, taking on a roomful of dudes with nothing but a pool cue.

We'll see. Supergirl is out this Friday. Mixed reviews so far from early showings for critics. But critics criticize. It's what they do.
