He lied to the producers of The Andy Griffith Show. They wanted a guitar player for a part on the show. They asked Best if he could play guitar, he said he owned 2 guitars. He failed to mention he couldn't play a lick. Producers hired Barney Kessel to provide the guitar playing and worked around it.
