Challenge JayC to as many rated games as possible if you want to boost your rating - he is
seriously the worst player here!!!!

Without even looking at JayC's rating I can tell you you're wrong
because I hold the honor of being the worst player here!!

You do not get better by playing people you can always beat. You only
get better by playing people who are better than you. Very simple

True, but you do get a better score by playing people you can always
beat. Of course, you only get it very slowly.

Actually my rating went down due to a draw with Rookie 5...and
why...because I played badly and he hopped on it. If I had Fritz...this
would never happen.

Get a grip stevens...I do not cheat and everyone who has played me
knows that.

You may only get better playing better opponents, BUT you must
study your game to see where you made the mistake(s.) You learn
nothing by getting waxed in less than 20 moves except to stay away
from those ranked in the clouds. I applaud the sub 1000 ranked
players (No, JayC isn't one of them) for hanging around. They
haven't been trained, nor are they cheats unless they are the ones
that forfiet 30 games at a time to the cloud dwellers on the 3rd move.

I think that you stand corrected. Without embarrassing the poor fella,
ARF with a 972 rating is indeed one of the less frequent victors at this
wonderful RHP site. Although I have lost more games than he !

I stand corrected and apologise to ARF - To name and shame the
lowest ranked player would be Martins.... 850 rating. The wooden
spoon is in the post 🙂

In defense of Martins, I think he resigned from several dozen games at once to
arrive at that low rating. I believe it was a lack of time rather than a lack of
skill that brought him down.

yes indeed martins has the honour of beating me, then 1 draw, then i
had his his measure and beat in him in a 60 move game. yes im sure
he has other reasons why his rating is so low.BUT chess isnt one of
them. i believe like many do here,he took on 150 games at one
stage. well that was when i played him. then i lost contact after the
games. next time i looked him up! well! ANYWAY he has a rematch
anyday with me. but sadly i think RHP has lost a very talented player
there.! worst player??????? I WONT HEAR OF SUCH THINGS SAID.!HE
IS EQUAL TO ANY 1500 PLAYER STENGHT WISE! LOOK OUT IF HE
STARTS CHALLENGING! ALTHINGS SAID. I KNOW HE HAD PERSONAL
TROUBLE! i also know how this can affect a game of chess.! GOOD

Well, you could always study tactics. I am in the process of buying a
Chess aid for my Computer, and it is called "chess mentor"; it cost
£250 and it brings you right up 2200 rating. It is done by a GM and it
is supposed to be good. It said that if you work at it in a steady pace,
that you could complete it in 8-12 months. If you are looking for any
books, i would start by looking for a book called " my way" by "Aron
Nimzovitch". If you own any books, i would make that one of them.
Most players would have that book; it is compulsory!! If you can look
in the "London Chess and Bridge" online store, i would look through
the video's. It gives you some good sets. There is one i have
called "dirty tricks"; it is all about attack right from the start and
setting traps; very good.
