Anyone else feeling the pains of finding a new job? I have applied to over a hundred different places and received only rejection letters. This after a decade long career in construction management where I named my wages. I returned to school, finished a degree in public administration and now I can't even get hired selling insurance. I have a feeling the relationship between age and degree are detriments to my becoming gainfully employed.

Maybe a resume to arms maker.

I'm not surprised you can't get a job selling insurance if you've got a degree in public administration. Maybe you could apply for jobs in local government. It would help if you were a one-armed lesbian from an ethnic minority background, (here in the UK anyway).

I thought there would be something, but I really am miffed at this empty job market.

Originally posted by cheshirecatstevensI don't know where you're situated but I know where I am (southwestern Ontario, Canada) the job prospects for recent graduates are not "rosey" especially as we're a very manufacturing (heavily automotive) driven area and there are lots of layoffs and plant closings. I do wish you well.

Originally posted by cheshirecatstevensOpen your business back up. Screw building houses. People are looking to renovate their present house or add a small addition. It's difficult to find a GOOD construction company to do small jobs. I learned that 20 yrs ago. I'm booked up for a year, plus i do sub work for other companies. I have 3 employees. I work 4-5 hrs every morning, then back to the office for paper work.
