First was a canadian production of "the Snow Walker" and an Irish
production of "In My Country" about the Aparteid Commision after
Nelson Mandella became president of South Africa. Starred
Samual Jackson as an american reporter. Very powerful film, and
incredible music, South African choral.

They did a decent job with that movie, but the book was better. IMHO, "A Prayer for Owen Meany" was by far John Irving's best work. Highly recommended.

I really like the Hornblower movie series and the movie Master and Commander. Is anyone familiar with more adventure type movies acting on ships in the laste eightteenth and early nineteenth century?

I agree. Isn't their a movie based on Owen Meany called "Simon Birch" or something?

I know this is about movies but I never thought in my lifetime I would say Battlestar Gallactica is better than Star Wars. My brother picked up the 1st season for me on dvd and it is fantastic!!!! Of course I am talking about the new series I believe on the Sci Fi channel. Very very good

I'd forgotten about Simon Birch. I've seen that one too. Just stumbled across it one morning. I think it's one of the best I've seen in a long time.
