well it looks like it is petering out into a draw at 241 for 1.
my verdict
if u want to win
declare end of day 2
else
bat until brian charles is dismissed

A slim chance, admittedly.
But why give up with still a chance?
Because if the draw had come about due to lack of time it would have highlighted the fact that he wasted time going for personal glory.
You say you would have done the same, but for the test selectors wins are more important than personal records.
England 3-0 🙂
i agree in the context of the winning the game yeah it was a bad decision (although it still took 2 excellent innings from the skipper & freddie, + some shocking fielding to secure the draw - 2 easy dropped catches in that respect).
but as i said earlier the result of the game was irrelevant, i think the west indian public would rather have seen thier hero break the record than win that game - i know if i was a west indian i would rather see lara regain the record than win a game in an already lost series.
the other thing is that it will to a certain extent have an effect on the bowlers for the upcoming one day series. i mean they have to be thinking "how the hell to get him out when there is no assistance from the wicket ??"
should be a good series - going to stick my c*ck on the block and say the windies to edge it - just.

Rahul I believe is the most complete batsman. He has the patience to last a lifetime. He's my fav cricketer as well - closely followed by Tendulker. I have never really been impressed with Lara - he seems to be a batsman who can score big - but its always a long time between drinks as they say. But can't deny he's got something special scoring 400, anyway would rather he had the record against England than an aussie having the record against Zimbabwe (not that I don't like England cricket - I just don't like aussies winning everything (of nz's most competitive sports anyway that is)). Dravid unfortunately probably scores too slow generally to ever take on the record - though if someone told him to bat five days - I'm sure he would be the only batsman in the world that could put his mind to the task! Anyone else got favourite cricketers??? Number one for me is Dravid - because everytime he comes to the crease I'm scared he'll never get out. Number 2 is Tendulker cos hes so fun to watch. and Numebr three - to come from my home crowd - is Chris Harris. Love the passion he has for the game and its always interesting cricket when he's involved. Unfortunately he's fairly unlucky not to be considered for tests because I believe thats where his best batting actually lies. Anyway isn't it funny of my three favourite players - all of them are coached by New Zealanders.... :-)
that is a toughy but at the moment
1. Hayden (agression, all the hots & raw power + can play a big innings)
2. Dravid (elegance, 2 yrs running indian crickteer of the year).
3. Streak (drags the Zim team along, all heart).
4. Sanath J (just bowl me a ball & watch it disappear).
5. D Martyn, M Waugh (most stylish batsmen i have seen)
6. Y Singh (i think this boy has so much potential + superb in the field)
7. Flemming (currently probably in top5 - 7 bats in the world today - i think).
8. A flower, me old buddy me old pal
9. Sachin, Lara the 2 best of thier generation (ST, 1 days - BL Tests)
1. Shoaib, Bond & lee (raw pace, duck boys).
2. Warne (what i can say).
3. Pollock, Mcrath (try and hit off that length).
4. Paul adams (just the action man)
5. Murali (what can u say about a man who will become the leading wicket taker shortly)
6. The WI pace attack of old are legendary.
i luv the game so anyone playing international cricket has my respect & admiration (am a wee bit jealous i dont have half thier skills).

Feel a bit sorry for Zimbabwe cricket at the moment. I think they built a really good team - surviving on Andy Flower and Heath Streak, two world class players, - unfortunately their seems to be constant bickering between the players and the selectors. Taibu is a pretty good keeper - have been impressed when I watch him play, very quick behind the stumps. Not really sure whats going wrong over there - haven't really kept an eye on it. But I hear they are picking a Zimbabwe B team pretty much. Whats the actual problem???? You guys need Andy Flower back - if he was back then it would give the team a bit more solidity as well as hope... Other than that is then any up and comer zimbabwean cricketers we should look out for against Sti Lanka????

...and Brian scores 400 against you?
Don't wanna see England if they're not at their best.
As far as the team thing goes (and let's not forget it's a team game) England won, and won well, in fact, it was our best result against the Carribean ever (i think), so go figure 🙂
zim cricket at the moment is scre*wd much the same as the rest of the country. pretty much entire first 11 has walked due mainly to the selection policy. SA have a similar problem but on a much lesser scale (case in point is Jacques Rudolph having to wait 2 years before breaking into the side - remeber J Ontong a few yrs back).
i have a dilemma, do i support Zim or not ?
i say support the country not the players - coz the current set of players are basically condoning the current state of affairs by playing.
the only 2 players surving after the recent walkout are Taibu & ebrahim.
as for the likes of flower & olonga - well we wont be seeing them don the red of zimbabwe ever again i fear :-(

the selection policy is these days based on color rather than merit.
back to BL 400*, i was doing some net practise last night and there were a few west indians there.
and they were only unhappy that BL did not bat until he went out whether it be 400, 401,450 or 500. they said they would have been happy even to lose the game (coz it mattered not in the context of the series) so long as BL reclaimed the record. if the series was 1-1 then it would have been different.

Well just as the aussies were getting comfortable with test record after test record little old Lara drops in and caresses his way to the highest individual test innings surpassing Hayden's mighty innings against Zimbabwe. What I find amusing is Lara has now scored two triple centuries - against the same opposition at the same ground. Another little irony ...[text shortened]... series on England - Which of course my New Zealanders will take out!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed 😛
I see one of the following basmen.
1. Hayden.
2. Tendulkar.
3. Inzamam
4. Lara himself
Cheers
