I don't think you should leave because of the ongoing strife, actually I think that is a good reason to stay. Don't allow anyone to be able to say after you are gone that you ran away which no doubt in my mind they would.
We have had our differences and still do. If you think a simple name change will stop people from knowing who you are I believe you're mistaken. You can't change some of the terms and words you use it would be extremely difficult to even try as it comes automatic to you.
Anyway at the end of the day it is your decision to make but give it some thought. You don't know how many times I've thought about doing exactly as you are thinking about doing. I just will not give anyone the satisfaction of thinking they made me leave.
I am not for a second telling you what to do, just give it more thought.
