A friend an I were in NYC, where we came across a chinese lady peddling kittens on a street corner. My friend, having an affinity for animals stopped to look at them. After seeing a kitten he very much fancied, he asked the lady how much for the kitten. She replied that it was $10. He promptly gave her the money and she proceeded to pull out a large carving knife and said, "you want me cut head off now, or you do it later?"
I haven't been back since(NYC).
Ironically enough, the cat is dead. Run over by the chinese food delivery man.

Has anyone ever eaten a cat before?
I've been led to believe that I've eaten dog before. It was bloody disgusting whatever the hell it was though.
Yes. I am bored. Sorry. Move along...
It was very nice in a batter, with sweet and sour sauce. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a mix up with our chinese friend who ordered it in Guangzhou. We thought he said it was "baby duck".
D
Yeah, I have had cat, dog and monkey, all in the same meal. I lived & worked for 2 years in Beijing, and went to visit the people in our Shanghai office. The first evening, after we finished work, we all (14 colleagues, all Chinese + myself) went out for food & drinks. We wandered through a market/bazaar area, and past rows and rows of caged animals. I was asked if we had these things in Europe or America, and I pointed out a couple of strange species. I didn't realise that I was choosing the food...
The cat had only been fed tuna, and it was quite an oily meat. Tasty. Mmmm. Thighs better than breast, and the liver & heart were nice. Didn't try the brains. Then came the dog, which was in some kind of sweet & sour sauce. Quite strong breast meat, but edible. The liver was really strong, and I passed on anything else.
The monkey was reared on bananas, and had a very sweet flavour, and was cooked in a sour fruity sauce. Brains were deep-fried and beautiful. We also has sparrow (deep-fried whole). Definitely the best meal I've ever had.
What is it that makes it ok to eat some animals but gross to eat others? I never understood the train of thought on this subject. It's ok to butcher cows, chickens, pigs and what have you but look out if you want to eat a horse or a dog or a cat. What defines edible food animals and non edible food animals?

Originally posted by mokkoI agree to a point.....I reckon you should only eat wild animals that you hunted and killed yourself...not tame ones or pets.
