Originally posted by darvlaySince getting past some of my virgin dinosaur training wheel threads (late 2007 and early 2008) my expectations have gradually become realistic. Figured right along, if they sparked lively conversation everybody won. If they fell lead balloon flat figured they lacked any redeeming merit because they were too formulaic, to use CFT's phrase, or simply too abstract/out of touch to matter or effectively bridge the generation gap. Just as milking stools must stand on their own three legs, even so each RHP poster's threads must ultimately learn to stand on their own posts... first of which is the OP, second the first reply and third the last post. Honest answer to your question is that since Spring, 2008, I've gotten more than I've expected from every thread.
When's the last time you actually got what you wanted from a thread? Honestly.
Sometimes delight with animated and engaging, informational and entertaining conversation. Sometimes taking a well deserved kick in the shorts (for too little substance, excessive frequency, uninteresting topic, overly belabored subject or point of view or in some other way screwing up) which I've learned from and for which I've been grateful. Last time I got what I wanted was an hour ago when you posted this question... following your ascerbic, probably deserved criticisms last night. Thanks.
