What has happened to a friendly "hello" and / or "Good Luck" greeting when starting a game.
Of about twenty open invites that I have posted, only one has been accepted with a greeting by an accepting opponent.
I thought chess players had manners and knew etiquette.
Can we have some civility and good old fashioned manners please - or, am I expecting too much these days......................?

or don't know it at all. It may not reflect rudeness so
much as tentativeness or even linguistic inability.

If you are serious, then reread my post, and you
will see that it is not directed at you, nor was it
a reply to your post.
I was observing, for the sake of MartinS, that
sometimes if people don't respond to him in a
game, it might not have anything to do with their
being rude.

Sorry to split hairs, but no, it doesn't work. The teams are all based in the United States, and the nationality of the players don't really matter, because it's a team sport. The baseball world includes teams from all over the world. (Check out JapaneseBaseball.com)
So how about letting us play in your World sometime?
Oh and let's talk about the Kyoto agreement while we're at it!
Americans. sigh...

I like when I send a "hello and good luck" message and it's answered by " I don't believe in luck" or my favorite " yes good luck to you cause you'll need it".... Yet I still continue to send my warm little greeting. Some don't respond, sometimes if I have respect for my opponent I will even send a greeting in their native tongue, to the best of my ability anyway.
