Life is like chess, you keep playing as it gets harder and harder and harder till you are forced to tip the king at some point.
I knew a fellow who played at a chess club I attended. He lost in a friendly game, wasn't even a tournament and he hurled his king across the room. He was escorted from the room. I heard he decided to join a pool club and thought great now he has a stick if he gets upset about losing. True Story!!!

He joined a "pool" club and you noticed his stick?

I'm drowning in the dreadful imaginings.

Win, lose or stalemate in the end, the game is over.

Life is like a game of chess ...

full of regrettable moves and clumsy attempts at mating.

It's the stale mates I regret.

Could you Elaborate About the "marriage"-thing in Chess?

Edit: I am happily married in real life (28 years and counting) does that explain my rather weak Chess abilities?
