I honestly believe that. The strange thing is though, when i was younger all i wanted to do was sow the wild oats. Being this good at the mushy stuff would only've made it harder to bunny jump 😛
I mean, it's a natural progression. It's a good thing.

Not knowing what love means, as I have never experienced love before, or to be honest, any real desire to "sow the wild oats"; anything I post in this would probably be quite groundless.
However, perhaps it is due this very reason, that a lot of young people having not experienced love before, and hence the understanding of why people tend to be 'mushy' with each other, maybe that is your reason. Younger people haven't learnt to be mushy, or understand why people are mushy, because it is foreign to them.
At 55 y.o., let me chip in.
What is mushy? For me it is just another word for deep feelings. Mushy has a slightly bad connentation for men; it's girly to feel deep feelings. Perhaps as you age you have more experiences to be mushy about. Triumphs, regrets, memories, and people and things that are lost in time forever. And we judge mushy as indivuidals. Take any item (love, country, child, wife); the person who has more feelings about it than me I regard as sappy and over-emotional and the person who has less feelings about it, I see as hard-hearted.
I watched Zeffirelli's "Romeo and Juliet" last night. I first saw it at 17 y.o. and my friends and I hooted and howled at the gay-looking costumes and codpieces, cheered the sword play, and gagged at the romance. Now almost 40 years later, I see it through different eyes. I can see a case built for this being a mushy movie, but is that bad? Writing, filmmaking, and acting mix with the emotions you bring to make for an experience that is mushy, but also moving and deeply satisfying.
Mushy just may be you having human emotions. Happy Valentine's Day.
