- "A Knight on the rim is dim."

- "Check all checks, look for loose(unguarded) pieces."

- "Trade off a bad Bishop."

- "Blockade the opponent's backward Pawn. Support and advance your passed Pawn."

- "Connect your Rooks."

- "Get your King into safety and don't move your Queen too soon."

- "A Knight on the 3rd or 6th rank, which is supported by a Pawn and unopposed by an oppositional Pawn is likely worth a Rook."
