anyone given magnet fishing a go, was thinking about it but all i see in local news at moment is bomb disposal squad being called out as live ammunition keeps getting pulled out, guess the hazard of living near London! live grenade this weekend, can't wait for someone to try and pull up a german bomb

Nah it's when you tie a powerful magnet to a rope and throw it in and see what the magnet catches.
Mostly junk but sometimes old antiques can be found.
Precious metals are not magnetic so you won't be pulling up any treasure.

I seem to remember just that very type of fishing at some of the country fairs we used to bring our kids to.
