I agree. There is no point in imagining a match between Capa and Kasparov, or Lasker and Fischer. For one thing, Kasparov and Fischer had Capa’s and Lasker’s games to study. One can compare only rough contemporaries.

That's a fair assessment. They all have something to offer this and future generations.
