About 40 miles. Can get there by train in under an hour (5 hours if there is snow or leaves on the line).

Maybe no one likes the scallies up yon. Wucky said in the private forum that she was going to attempt to find a suitable venue in Chorlton. That thread died on the 30th October. I will PM her and ask if anything came to light.
