Well, a few days ago, i would have said Uncle Adam was a pretty sure winner of this months MAP, but Quirine is catching up. So, who is gonna win this race?
My money is on Quirine for certain

and I dont like you saying I dont play fair, or you calling yourself "the true MAP of march" we will see that in the end, just cause you said that I will play alot faster.

let's take uncleadam-there is no way (no offence btw) that he will get into the top 20 rated players. it is impossible. however, he is leading map of march, and, if he isn't already, shall make it into the top 20 alltime mappers-it's a table that he can top! that anyone who has time can top...hope that answers your question.
this isn't the first time that the tactics used to gain MAP has caused a rift. I guess it started out with a player being noticed to have moved more than others, and then someone else closing the gap, and then you have a MAP war. And it's all in good fun. Except that it starts to be taken seriously. People start to invest serious time in keeping their MAP up, and is isn't just about fun any more, there's pride and effort involved. It's no longer about who just happened to be moving the most because they were enjoying playing chess and becomes who an play chess the fastest to get the most moves. But that's still OK, as long as everyone is still having fun.
But it goes wrong because there are no rules (and there shouldn't be rules, because if you have rules then it's serious and no longer just a laugh) to govern how you boost your move total. Figging would be really frowned upon, but the fastest way to move is to give up on actually playing chess and to just move. I'm not saying anybody has gone this far, but noone will deny that there is a relationship between amount of time thinking about a move and how well you play. And I'm not saying it is wrong, but from the perspective of the person who is trying to be MAP by playing to his own honour code (eg. playing a varied number of people and trying to win) someone who has other internal rules (eg. play the same 3 people in many many games as fast as possible, and the results isn't really that important) the other person is almost cheating because they are gaining moves by methods that they themselves won't use.
Is it "cheating" - no. It can't be, because there's no rules. Is it right? That answer will be different from every person. But what's the point of all this drivvel? That somewhere the emphasis from both sides has shifted from the chess to the MAP, and MAP has become something that causes bad feeling instead of being fun. It's worse than when people start thinking about rating instead of chess & fun. Keep it fun or give it up. Fun & chess is why (I hope) we're here after all.

I agree with you fully. Good post.
For me it's a try (probably the last) to see what I have to do to become MAP of the month.
Quirine
I was the first MAP of the Month and it certainly will be the last time, given the amoutn of moves you have to make to win.
My total now is just below 3000, it will be around four thousand by the end of the month. The 8,400 moves i made in january were insanity, i did not think someone would pass it as fast as Adam.
I play Adam so much because i want to play chess, (no offense adam) but i play ultra fast blitz chess against him and the games are always rated. Therefore I have everything to lose and nothing to gain, in terms of rating. However I do find that by playing that fast against a player, in the games i take seriously it helps me think of mid game attacking combinations.
One final note, if anyone wants to play me even if i have blocked challenges (like now) all you have to do is message me and i will setup a game or two. I am hear to play mostly serious chess but i do like the occasional (or frequent) game of blitz chess.
