Last night. We sat out on the back deck, built a fire in the fireplace, looked at the stars and enjoyed a vodka martini...yes I said "a".

The light rail today. A mother and her infant, sharing each other and oblivious to everything else. I am so glad that such joy actually exists.

Today, at a jazz concert, the Brubeck Brothers (2 of them sons of Dave Brubeck) doing Blue Rondo A La Turk followed by Take 5 followed by Unsquare Dance. A half hour of bliss.

Yes, that's happened more than once with homeless men. Many, I've discovered, are well educated; others have war stories to tell about Active Duty in Viet Nam or Iraq. They're as grateful for someone who will listen as for a few bucks for a meal.
