Because it's a schlep and I don't want 400+ DVDs lying around. Also at the current prices for blank DVDs, it's also actually cheaper to just buy a streamer than to burn 600 DVDs.

You know, after reading your posts in this thread, I've come to the conclusion that you really are a thoroughly cheap bastard.

Maybe.

I just hate paying good money for bad products.

Checked quickly and most 2nd hand XBOXes are more than this streamer is new.

I don't really know anything about XBOX except that it runs Halo. Can it play all the video and audio formats that the Playon!HD supports?
A quick Google tells me that the XBOX will only accept FAT32 drives. WTF?

Fine suggestion, but I don't have a PC at home, except a crappy laptop that is actually supposed to be a work laptop. So this would mean the cost of a decent PC, which is much more than these units cost.
I looked at an Intel Atom setup with XBMC on, but that would mean a bunch of tinkering and about $150, as I have no parts lying around I can use.

The a ...[text shortened]... C Ryan Playon!HD is only $200. No contest really, and I ill be ordering one of these next week.
Has it turned up yet, and if yes is it any good?

Ah, I've had to wait, but once I get it - hopefully this week - I'll report back.
