Future seasons will undoubtedly meet such "expectations" on your part as well until you can "expect" to be completely routed.
It seems that Venice has a knack for executing plans and blaming his own actions on the actions of others so that he looks to be the better.
I have just moved to completely ignoring him. What will happen on the "board" will happen and based on this past turn, he is going to go down as he did exactly as I expected.
*Edit - Of course, I am sure he will have something to say about that.*
Undoubtedly, you boasted, as you are prone to do, to the mad King of Arles of how the Republic was "going down" and that led him to threaten the Republic at the last moment, ignoring our peace agreement. He has paid, in part, the price of such treachery and belief in the lies of German militarists, though the account book is not yet closed. You seem to be desirous of having others do your fighting and dying for you as most cowardly despots are, but the free people of the Republic will not rest until the dark forces of German militarism are crushed and the people of Central Europe freed. Already the tide turns against you and your fate is sealed.

It is good to see you recognize that Austria was always in Hungary's sphere of influence as I told you many seasons ago, but how many of your troops had to die before you were finally able to see your error? The widows and orphans of the Bavarian army that fought for Austria send their congratulations to the Duke for his clever diplomacy while they stand at the graves of their loved ones.
I had not looked at the map yet - did that get missed?
Yes - Austria is in the hands of Hungary now.
