Have you read Consider Phlebas by Iain M Banks? The lead character is a shapechanging assassin too, good story.

I always was and still am partial to the Fremen, especially the Feydakin. The islamic package into which they are formed is wonderfully mysterious and exotic and I love it. "God created Arrakis to test the faithful. One cannot go against the will of God."

I read Phlebas ages ago--great book.

I guess Dune was my first exposure to Islamic thought.

He wrote an interesting one (forget the title) about a modern Native American who learns how to be an old-fashioned shaman and kidnaps a young hiker to sacrifice to the spirits. Worth checking out too.

Stephen King also brings up a version of mind palace in his novel: Dreamcatcher. It's not quite the same though, but a gift from an alien. πŸ™‚

Oh yes, I remember it from the film, which wasn't bad.

Why am I not surprised there is a film. πŸ™‚

I wonder how many of Stephen King's novels has been adapted for the screen. It must be quite a few now. πŸ™‚

"The shawshank redemption" being my absolute favourite.

To name a few downers: Cat's eye and Children of the corn.

Lida and Pet sematary, however, are really good movies. In my opinion. πŸ™‚

The only book of Dean R. Koontz that I've read is "Seize the Night". It was a good book. Not bad at all. Do you have any Koontz recommendations?

Stephen Kings book 'Misery' has been made into a film, I recently watched it, and aalthough its getting old now its still brilliant. Kathy Bates gives a really good performance as a lunatic. Also 'the Shinning' was made into a film.
