Microsoft Project

Does anyone here use a recent copy of Microsoft Project? We use Project 98 at the moment which is really starting to show it's age. I want to use it to track costs in a similar way a quantity surveyor would do, does anyone know if more recent versions of Project have this functionality? I've read the blurb but it's written by some Marketing hot shot and doesn't really say an awful lot...

Thanks in advance for any help, we'd rather avoid splashing out money on a Microsoft licence if it doesn't have the features we're looking for... 🙂
