I just saw it on Amazon last night.
It prompted me to think of the allure presented by dangerous cults in the real world.
Although, in this film, the cult was clearly born from ancient paganism.
It tasted "sweet in the mouth, but soured in the belly."

@divegeester saidIt is a quality production.

The story is interesting and unpredictable.
The cinematography and scenery are first rate.
So, in short, it's worth a viewing.

@torunn saidAwwww...
A read a review - he had many good things to say about the film, no objections really except it was a bit sad to see our Midsommar traditions demolished. It may be a bit dark for me so I won't see it.
I don't think the film was, in any way, a negative reflection of Sweden's true festive culture. I'm sorry if you felt that I was celebrating it along those lines.
I think it was an interesting story about a pagan cult. The setting just happened to be in Sweden. The story could have just as easily been transposed into the mountains of Japan, Finland or Idaho.
I'm not sure where it was filmed. It was quite beautiful there in any case.

@wolfe63 saidThe critic said that it was his only negative feeling about the film, and that of course because he is Swedish. So I'm sure it's a good film, with scary, dark emotions. You did right to see it. If it is sent on TV later, I will too but maybe not on a big screen with high volume, that becomes scary. 🙂
Awwww...
