(June 5, 2014) "Just after midnight on this day in 1968, Robert Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles by Sirhan Bishara Sirhan, a 24-year-old Palestinian immigrant. Kennedy had just won California's Democratic presidential primary, and he was exiting through the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel. Juan Romero, a 17-year-old busboy, was shaking his hand when Sirhan began firing. Several of the men with him tackled Sirhan, including writer George Plimpton, Olympic athlete Rafer Johnson, and football star Rosey Grier. Romero knelt by Kennedy, and put a rosary in his hand.

His brother Edward "Ted" Kennedy delivered the eulogy: "My brother need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life; to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it. Those of us who loved him and who take him to his rest today, pray that what he was to us and what he wished for others will some day come to pass for all the world. As he said many times, in many parts of this nation, to those he touched and who sought to touch him: 'Some men see things as they are and say why. I dream things that never were and say why not.'" http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/index.php?date=2014/06/05

"Astronaut John Glenn, 92, has heart procedure"

"COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Former astronaut and U.S. senator John Glenn has had a heart valve replacement as he approaches his 93rd birthday. Glenn, the first American to orbit Earth, was recuperating, a spokesman at Ohio State University said Wednesday. Glenn is strong and healthy ahead of his birthday on July 18, John Glenn School of Public Affairs spokesman Hank Wilson said. Glenn had a minimally invasive version of the valve replacement procedure at the Cleveland Clinic in May and is recovering well, Wilson said. "It was fine, and he's fine," Wilson said. "I just talked to him today. He's strong and healthy. … It really wasn't that big of a deal in that regard."

In 1962, Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth as a member of the Mercury 7 program. "Godspeed, John Glenn," fellow astronaut Scott Carpenter radioed just before Glenn thundered off a launch pad in an Atlas rocket. With the all-business phrase, "Roger, the clock is operating, we're underway," Glenn radioed to Earth as he started his nearly 5 hours in space. Later he uttered a phrase he has repeated throughout life: "Zero G, and I feel fine." Glenn, a Democrat, later spent more than two decades as a U.S. senator and returned to space at age 77 aboard the space shuttle Discovery. Before he orbited the world, he fought in two wars as a fighter pilot and set a transcontinental speed record as a test pilot." (14.06.11)

To what extent have these four game/word threads received the highest volume of posts because 1) Their reply formats are specified (strict with three and loose with one); 2) They offer an opportunity to contribute without criticism; 3) Other?

More self-applause, Bobby? Linked Words wouldn't be on your list without
the constant manipulation by two incessant posters, caissad4 and yourself.
