How is that possible?

Fabiana Murer from Brazil couldn't find one of her poles on the pole vault today. It was simply missing. All the athlete's poles are set by the olympic organization on the track, It's not the athletes responsability to prepare their equipments (as it has always been). But Fabiana couldn't find the one she was'going to use for high jumps.

After arguing with the judges for 10 minutes, asking to interrupt the competition, the judges decided to proceed with the competition. She skip one try and decided to compete with a different pole later. After that and with a inapropriated pole, she did not succeed in any of her following tries, finishing with 4.45 as the best jump.

Her best mark of the year was 4.80. She was very confident in surpassing this mark with 4.85 or 4.90. (Isinbayeva did 5.05)

Silver winner had 4.80. Fabiana was rated by many to finish second.

How can something absurd like that happen in an olympic competition?????

COB tried to cancel the final but they did not succeed.

I ask myself if they would let the competiton proceed if it was Isinbayeva pole missing...

Sorry, she said she needed something a bit longer than two inches, and she needed at least a 1 inch girth. But she did thank you for the offer just the same. 😛
