That whole suspended game fiasco interfered with his mojo, I'm sure. Since he was 'relieving' Verlander instead of being the true starter of game one, it messed things up. Yeah, that's it. He'll be back to his invincible self on Tuesday. You'll see. The Yankees are doomed now. It'll be Tigers in four, just like in 2006.
I was fortunate enough to have tickets to game two. Your team looked great (except the closer). But I expected it to be a very competitive series.

He seldom looks good in non-save situations. The ERA difference between save and non-save situations during the regular season was startling. I blame Don Kelly for knocking in that fifth run.

Edit: it was 0.55 to 5.79

Eleven strikeouts for Verlander. A tie breaking solo shot by Delmon Young. And a shaky save by Valverde. With A. J. Burnett on the mound tomorrow for the Yankees, things are looking good.

Verlander's was one of the gutsiest performances I've seen in a while. Mentally unflappable! I predicted Sabathia would lose to Verlander and had a bet going in the office. I know my cowrker is going to refuse paying because the loss spanned two nights!

Why should he pay you? Sabbathia never lost to Verlander!!
In game 1 they both received no decisions.
In game 3 Verlander got the win and Sabbathia got a no decision.

You should pay him....but I bet you won't.

The bet was Sabatthia would not beat Verlander, actually. So he still loses. The bet was who would win, not who would lose. As Sabathia did not win nor beat Verlander I win.

Haunting words from a game three closer might become difficult to swallow.

Nova vs Fister in game 5.... in NY, where said closer said they would not return to....

This is bulletin board stuff that can bite you in the butt.

Then you have the "ex-Tiger" factor in Curtis Granderson.....

Not a great feeling about this, "Rwingett".

Nova pitched very well in game one. Fister...not so much. The odds are that Nova will not pitch as well again and that Fister will pitch better. The Tigers will win.

Yankee stadium....home crowd......electric atmosphere.....all favor Yanks!

Good luck....I think you will need it because I am not a huge Fister fan either.

O ye of little faith. The Yankees shall be smitten.

I think the Tigers should take this one. The "electric" NYC atmosphere is overblown and should not affect the Tigers.

I think the Yankees will beat the hell out of Detroit in Game 5.
They have the better pitcher on the mound.
They have their home field.
They have MUCH more experience in these types of games.
The managers are equal, so no advantage to either side there.
I like Rivera more than Valverde.
I think the Yankees have a slight edge in hitting.
AND, the Yankees have the one "special" trump card....Derek Jeter. I look for him to
have a big game.

Sorry, that is my logical assessment. I have no affinity for either team.
I would actually rather see the Tigers win it, so the Yankees were eliminated.
But that is not how the smart money will ride.

I look for the Phillies to beat the Cardinals in the match up of aces on Friday.
I also think Milwaukee sends the Dbacks packing on Friday as well.

It's tough to pick a team that had an elimination game at home ............... and lost 10-1.

There's usually one upset and it's hard to go against Doc. Take the D-Backs making up a 2-0 deficit to knock off the Brewers.

Congrats to the Detroit Tigers and Rwingett. That was a great game.
The Yankees have no one to blame but themselves for losing that game.
A-Rod stunk up the joint.

Now the Tigers catch the Rangers.
