The Mods terrorized the small towns in a two-day running battle that ranged up and down the coast line as far as Hastings.
Dubbed the "Second Battle of Hastings" by the british press, the Mod leaders, dubbed "Sawdust Caesars" were fined heavily and sent home, despite their outrageous attacks on person and property.
