What part of todays world dissappoints you the most? Why?
To quote the jam: "The public gets what the public wants"
Our media is vindictive, intrusive, hateful, moronic, small minded etc. Why? Because that is what resonates with the magority of the public.
The token 'irritation' shown by the majority is just that: tokenism. If they really didn't like it, the wouldn't consume it.
So the media: because it is always there, reminding us just how unpleasent we humans really can be. And typically are.
It disappoints that me that for all the talk of feeding the world and combating world poverty, people in the poorest countries in the world have got even poorer over the last 20 years. Meanwhile, and largely as a consequence of continuing poverty, rainforests are burned and cut at an accelerating rate, marshes are drained and fisheries are exhausted. None of these are new problems, and it isn't even as though there aren't solutions, but apparently there's no one with the poltical will to do anything about it. So the whole world loses. That's pretty disappointing.
