GoaD certainly does use an engine!
It's steam powered and made mainly from brass.
    (He polishes it on Sundays.)
You would never catch me in one of those new-fangled automobiles.

Perhaps for driving his vehicle but not for playing chess.

I would know if that was the case been here long enough and played against enough of them.

Wouldn't you rather play someone around your own strength, or do you just like winning easy games?

Most of my games here are against opponents of a similar rating to my own, but I genuinely enjoy playing people of all abilities.

And don't underestimate the badradger. He played an amazing game against that White Walker chap.

Which White Walker are you talking about there are a bunch of them.

I know you play people around your own rating, don't you enjoy those much better where you actually have to work for the win?

The White Walker chap he recently held to a draw (who then disappeared from the site).

I learn more playing stronger opponents, that's true, and I do enjoy closely fought games. But I also enjoy game board banter, and ratings don't mean very much when it comes to that.

Ok, that is a good point.

I agree ratings don't mean a lot on here, but you are obviously as good over the board or maybe better than your rating is on here. I use to be a 1669 back years ago if you can believe that, I've slid a long way I know. I still remember that feeling of being overwhelmed on the board.

I was lucky enough to beat a 2000 player OTB at a rated tournament in the first game. I think he just plain underestimated me and tried a few tricks that didn't work. He actually dropped out of the tournament after that one game and you don't get reimbursed for your entrance fee.

That might have been a tad too convoluted for some readers to understand.

(I interpret your post as: only immature people use engines)

I should be about 1959 on here but I keep losing
to engine-users like GoaD and his polished machine.
