You mean it was a bit like when Alfred Hitchcock used to be in seen his films? He was usually the fat guy who was running to catch a bus but he missed it because it drove away just as he got to it, and then he just stood there looking like the fat sod that he was?

I saw this film once which was a nice love story set on a cruise ship with Kate Winslet and Leonardo di Caprio, then - BAM! - completely randomly the ship hits an iceberg and everybody sinks and dies.
