Do you know your friend's mother? Maybe she thinks those cards are crap, too? And maybe your friend does something else for his mother which has a lot more meaning? If his mother thinks that Mother's Day is important and if not getting a card from her son would hurt her, then I agree that he should buy one. I have never done so, because I know ...[text shortened]... zis abused it for their own purposes.

Depends on your mother, too. If you live where they only sell schmaltzy cards, and the cards are an outright lie in the case of your own family, then you need some sort of Plan B.
No this guy doesn't intend doing anything for his mother, thats why i posted the original thread.
Maybe comercialism is a fair argument for vetoing Mothers day, but its a bit of a lame excuse in my book. Try missing your wedding aniversary and giving your wife that excuse, or valentines day.
I think it was a bad show, thats my opinion, and i stick by it.
