Hello everyone!
I recently went on a business and leisure trip to Orlando from nov. 2
to 10. In that time, I haven't been able to access my favorite internet
site to play my moves. Althought I warned everybody of my abscence,
three players haven't respected my word, even when I left e-mails,
messages on games and a message in my profile. These players are
Johnjava and Makaq Squad. The other player I will leave anonymous
since I was losing to him, but I hope he won't do it to me in the
future. Please be carefull when playing with these players. To the
others, a million thanks and thanks again, especially 'count' for
warning the others by posting on the forum.

All is fair in love and Chess
Maybe try playing games with 14 day T/O's
However, I still think my thoughts of a "don't time me out" table would
be a good idea. ( Yes, all sorts of problems can arise - abuse etc etc )
Not trying to be argumentative.

I am adding a vacation mode this week. This should stop all but the
most unsporting timing you out when you are away.

This feature is LONG overdue - as it causes people so many problems.

Thanks Russ - I am sure some will still abuse it but (personally) I
thinks it's a great idea.
Maybe it could be developed a bit further so that on the "your games"
screen you could flag a game so that you know you've agreed not to
T/O ?

I'm not sure how this will function, but what is to stop me from being on "vacation" 365 days a
year? Can you only use it once per game or something?

I would imagine there will be nothing to stop you from being on
holiday 365 days a year.
"Abusers" would stand out after a while and their "requests" not to T/O
would eventually be ignored.

Just my thoughts

is there a way to make time-outs be an "optional game" in regards to ratings?

I hope it is the code where we get about 28 days of vacation a year and after that no more vacation time... Would be sad to see someone on vacation for 2 years....

Newest thing about it is Russ says he is doing the code to make it a rule...

Old Topic, new solution... lets see how it goes.

ok, but i reckon that a 21 day time-out is pretty good. 7 days is average, but if you're on vacation, you can get a win taken off you like *that*

I agree that the ability to have a timeout should be something to which you agree in advance. It is too easily abused to prevent accepting a defeat. It also limits those who only can have a few games at a time.
