The Dickens you say.🤔😲😉

Murphy's Law is simply our way to recognize that unwanted things could happen. Nothing pessimistic about that.

@Torunn I like a bit of carpet fluff on myjammy toast, like my mam used to say you have got to eat a peck of muck before you die.

I say it's reality. It's just like saying 'hope for the best, plan for the worst'. If something can go wrong, it will. When you buy a new place to live, you don't take chances, you make plans.
This is a way of putting it:

or

"standing with both feet on the ground"

Speaking of Murphy's Law . . . Welcome back, Torunn! 😉

my toast always lands jam side down
It is true sir that toast will always land buttered side down, but it is also true that a cat will always land on its feet.

The question therefore arises, if you dropped a cat with a slice of buttered bread on its back, which side would it land?

Exactly Torunn.

Thank you 🙂 I have been visiting a friend in her summer house on the Swedish west coast - a lovely little place that was originally a fishing village but now with mainly summer residents living in white-painted wooden houses and sailing yachts.
