Galax fest? whats that? if its the name of the song, no, its called "Blackberry Blossom". Thats my 19 year old sister playing fiddle, yes I know that song needs a lot of work on, on our latest recording it sounds allot better.. the wonders of technology,
Galax is a town in Virginia that hosts a bluegrass festival every year.
Its the woodstock of folk festivals. Your group was being recorded
live, but wondered where. I guess it must be in Wyoming then.
When you go in a studio everything can be made better, patching
out mistakes, etc. I have a home recording system based on
Cakewalk Sonar 4, a dell comp with two HD, 512 megs ram.
Use a lot of other software like Antares Autotune, BBS Sonic Maximizer,
Sony Sonic Foundry which has noise reduction and lots of other stuff,
pop and click filter if you archive vinyl. Did I mention my site?
We have a band, The Gladsmiths at thegladsmiths.com
We play traditional irish, american oldtimey, appalachian, british
songs and tunes and our own compositions.
I put together a cassette for Juli, one of our members, a great
guitarist, of about 20 of my guitar compositions which she is studying
to convert them to two or three instruments.

I'm not quite sure what your question is, but I'm happy to answer if you clarify it for me.

Whatever can be played on guitar can be played on violin. My fiddle from 1880 absolutely s-c-r-e-a-m-s. And then, hooked up to a stack of Marshalls... 😉

That sounds pretty sweet. A well put together song. A bit on the easy listening side though. It wasn't what I expected from you at all. I was thinking more anarchistic punk rock, after looking at your photo on RHP. Do you do anything a bit more gutsy and raucous?

Sounds like a pretty hefty investment of dollars, even though you leave the recording to a studio.

Actually that reminds me, the song that autoplays isn't mine at all, but Tori Amos. I've been meaning to remove it for ages.

Our stuff can be found under the 'Perk up your ears' link, but we're not really an anarchistic punk kind of group.

So you are in Ireland. I also play celtic and some classic,
Bach Bourre, Jesu joy of mans desiring and some of the
Sor studies. Write my own tunes also, play mandolin, some fiddle,
banjo. We have a band , the Gladsmiths, we play celtic, appalachian
old timey american, our own songs and tunes. Which fest are you
talking about? My wife had a chance to go to Ireland a couple of
months ago, class near Dublin but took off to Galway for some
sessions. She playes mountain dulcimer, people in Galway loved
her playing and singing. I would sure like to have gone, I did
get to Dub a few years ago on a job interview in Liexlip, the Intel
plant there so I got a few sessions in at a few pubs, only had
a mandolin with me at the time. Wish I could do it again but for a
long time!

Played the piano at school. Wished I'd kept it up.
