I'm sorry to hear about the death in your family. :'(
It just takes a little time, my friend.

I'm sorry to hear about it too, NIK. My dog got a back problem recently, and she's probably going to need an operation, the result of which could be paralysis. I don't want to lose my dog. :'(

I feel for ya..

I cross my fingers that all goes well, PBE6. And I am sorry about your loss, N I K. I don't make friends with dogs easily (I had severe dog anxiety as a child and haven't entirely overcome that), but I still understand what losing a pet means.

Thanks guys. I'll let you know how the surgery turns out. It's weird how dogs become part of the family instantly, isn't it? And it always seems like they're smiling. Lucky dogs...

Well, I can tell you haven't had a pet which has meant much to you, Palynka.
I had and I do.

You can be sure that if she (never it) died I wouldn't be looking for sympathy in forums.

There is a lot of personal things I've spared the forums from reading about me, and that is my decision. It doesn't mean I'm going to be an ass to those who do decide to share.

well i'd just like to say that i wasn't so much looking for sympathy, but was just saying that as he was an inspiration to my chess game, i felt it important that i should mention him.

Sorry.

I was perhaps too harsh on you because what really bothers me is so many people pretending they care. Perhaps you have friends here, real friends, but I think that at least some people are pretending they care when they'll just easily forget it the next minute.

If you can't recognize an honest attempt at empathy or are too jaded to believe there are such things in places like this then it is in your best interest to keep your trap shut . This way you don't come off sounding like as much of nasty a-hole .

Your definition of honesty is obviously different from mine.

So, what is your definition of honesty? And how do you know whether something someone writes here is honest or not? It's quite possible that some of the people who wrote in this thread don't really care very much, but just said what they said because they have learned that this is the polite thing to do. But why do you think it's impossible that some people really do care? Just because you don't? And besides, if someone pretends to care a lot even though he/she cares just a little bit, is that such an awful thing?
