dilemma! i decided to get the "32 third graders..." book with next buisness day delivery. except, it costs £8.99 for the delivery...
do you reckon i would be able to go into town on tuesday and get her a present? as opposed to giving her one in the morning?
gah!

Not if they are for something you'd do together, e.g. going to a restaurant or a concert.
i think i have now decided to go into glasgow and find her something there. panick averted!
EDIT: and currently i live with my parents, so the call is not a problem. but that reminds me of a thread i was gonna start...
Love her. And don't commit the error of feeling you ashamed to demonstrate your sentiments. Life is too short and it give us few opportunities.
On the practical side: if she loves reading detectives books, get one for her from the classics. i.e.. Christie, Chesterton, Doyle...
Don't commit the error of buying a book related to her work. Chances are that she had read it, or have references (not good ones) about it.
And reading somewhat ralated with my work isn't precisely my idea of fun! 🙂
BTW, my best wishes to your mum in her birthday!
