Liam, if you like to rock, I say rock. Find some guys who like to go nuts, even if they may not be the best technical musicians, and rehearse the hell out of them. You'll have a lean, mean rock machine in a few months guaranteed. Then you can decide which band will be your side project.

I'm not saying break up your band, but you should feel satisfied when you write, rehearse, record and play live. If your band followed you when you left, then they definitely respect you as a musician, so you can probably tell them to do whatever and they'll listen.
Originally posted by PBE6I wish that was true. The real fact of the matter is they're all a bit too apathetic to find their own bands.

I'm not sure if this happens in your band or not, but no one in the band should think they're "above" rock because they can play 5-tuplets in their sleep, or invert F#maj9+11+5 chords up and down the neck, or slap like Marcus Miller, or sing noodley-lines like Aretha Franklin. All that stuff is great, but it has nothing to do with rock. It's like putting really great tomatoes in a chocolate chip cookie recipe, it just doesn't make sense. If anyone has that attitude, then you're probably going to be unsatisfied playing with that person. If no one has that attitude, then you're in luck because they can change.

myspace.com any users here?
I was listening to the radio last night, heard a tune I liked and told I could hear more on myspace. I just logged on for the first time, it seems like a massive community.
Anyone give me any tips about the site?
