"I'd rather have my 12 year old looking into information on the internet, than looking for it in the pants of the nearest 15 year old"

thats your words, not mine. as he was talking about a 12 year old learning about sex here, that would make it a chess forum.

thats sick
Doing the twist again.

I "said" I would raathere have my kid looking for information on the i-n-t-e-r-n-e-t than in the p-a-n-t-s of the nearest 15 year old.

You're sick if you don't agree with that statement.

sicko.

Tell me i just didnt read that?? thats sick!![/b]
I think a chess forum is a heck of a lot better than pretty much any other place on the internet she might have ended up looking.

Once kids are old enough to want to know about such things, it is much better to just tell them, or have it explained by intelligent people like mokko rather than having them learn only from rumors from other kids and even less trustworthy bits of the internet.

Better to just tell the truth rather than let them figure it out and risk misconceptions. You'd be amazed at some of the stuff some kids end up believing.

No kidding. Amazing to me that some people here were ever kids. It's as though they've forgotten what it's like.

We are thrilled by how much cleaner and decent the forums have become already.

Keep up the good work guys.

Yeah, every parents dream, that their 12 year old daughter learns all about sex on the internet from some middle-aged pervert(s)!

You can disagree with me all you want. But how you can sit there and smugly call me clueless when all I did was espouse the obvious notion that children ...[text shortened]... e on the interent together having sexually based conversations is beyond me.

Think about it.
Describe her. It'll help me visualize her plight better. What was she wearing? Was she hot?

His heart may have been in the right place, but his head wasn't. His head was in making unfounded accusations. Then toped it off with insults and threats.

Yes, I read her story. And her story was that she is safe and warm and perfectly fine. She is educated and sharp and can deal in the real world where sheltered and unsupervised children can not. Her father has reported no trauma and neither has she. The only trauma is fictitious trauma that you have dreamed up out of some story book mindset you learned that was wrongly taught to you. Oh the Horror of supervised education on a safe website at an early age. To bad you didn't start younger. You might have learned some common sense. There is no adult here that I am aware of that would condone true child abuse. But I don't think we should condone Adult abuse by an Attorney either. The Moderator teams here know their jobs, and do it well.

LMAO! Just reminded me of two summers ago when I was out camping with my kids. My oldest was only 8 at the time. I was completely caught of guard as I went into the tent to make the beds and she was in there just hanging out. Out of the blue she hits me with "Mom, what's a lesbian?"

As a parent you have that half of a half of a second to decide how you're going to respond. (oh ya and not to choke, turn blue and die.) So I sucked it up and first of all to bide some time asked where she had heard it. And of course no surprise she had heard it on TV.

So I stuttered and stammered a bit I'm sure but I told her in the best way I could what a lesbian was. Without getting into graphic detail of course. Mind you I was 7 months pregnant at the time but that's a different question for another time.

So I told her how girls like to date boys and hold hands and snuggle ect...well lesbians were just girls who liked to do all those things with other girls instead of with boys.

She looks at me and say "Oh (small pause here) Mom, I don't don't think I want to be a lesbian when I grow up."

And that was that.It was alot less traumatic than when the same kid told her younger sister that the stuff she was picking out of her ears where pieces of her brains that were falling out let me assure you.

*sigh* 😞

After going back and reading all this 'stuff' in the various threads, all I can think is that there was a far better way to spend that time. Sure there were a lot of threads about sex and what not in various forums (mostly meet opponents to my knowledge) but like many other people have said, better to ask questions here since there are people who actually know what their talking about here then a random google search or the photo dark room at the local school. You're never going to banish the stuff. This has also already started mocking threads, which is something we could do without.

Nice one.

I remember when I wasn't much older than that asking my mother what a tampon was for. I knew perfectly well what it was for but wanted to see how she would react.

Actually not very well. She sort of looked a little uncomfortable, ummmm'd and aaah'd a bit and told me she'd tell me later. I thought it was funny at the time.

Odd really because she never really hid nudity or anything but perhaps it was just one discussion too far 🙂

Oh christ, I used to disassemble them, and go running around to the neighbors with my new, cool little telescopes.

Mom wasn't pleased.

Yeah, and somtimes, if you had got hold of those telescopic types you could shoot them across the bathroom.

I used to put them in a basin full of water to watch them expand. Oh, those were the days.
