Alright, let me humor myself a bit...why don't you tell me where kids [b]should be learning about sex. What arena for sex education do you find acceptable, because they will be learning about it, and looking into it, regardless.
Would you rather be aware of it, when it's your kids looking into it, or in the dark. Open to questions/discussion, o ...[text shortened]... nto information on the internet, than looking for it in the pants of the nearest 15 year old.[/b]
They are also going to learn plenty in informal settings: friends, books, magazines, the internet...
The place I think I would least like my 11 year old daughter to learn would be from a middle-aged stranger. That seems to be the most dangerous place.
Looking into information on the internet is one thing having sexually explicit convos with adults seems to me to be another.

I think a chess forum is a heck of a lot better than pretty much any other place on the internet she might have ended up looking.
Once kids are old enough to want to know about such things, it is much better to just tell them, or have it explained by intelligent people like mokko rather than having them learn only from rumors from other kids and eve ...[text shortened]... out and risk misconceptions. You'd be amazed at some of the stuff some kids end up believing.
Are you honestly suggesting that a chess forum is the finest sex education on the internet?

You and Mr Dippy have been sharing those rose coloured glasses again havent you?You seem to be very blinkered and not at all living in the real world. As for making headway take a good long hard look at yourselves and think "Am I a good parent" as not many people on here share your views, and no matter how many times you come on here to crusade with your companion you are making no headway at all .... the only things people are discussing is what an absloute fruitcake you are.....

Yes, I read her story. And her story was that she is safe and warm and perfectly fine. She is educated and sharp and can deal in the real world where sheltered and unsupervised children can not. Her father has reported no trauma and neither has she. The only trauma is fictitious trauma that you have dreamed up out of some story book mindset you learned ...[text shortened]... e Adult abuse by an Attorney either. "supervised education on a safe website"?
Oh come on, statements like this make my case for me.
One point that some people have missed:
The fact that she said she was fine with it was meaningless
12 YEAR OLD GIRLS CANNOT GIVE THEIR CONSENT to be involved in this sort of activity with adults.
That's why civilized countries have laws that put the onus on the adults.

What are you going to do when your daughter goes to college and gets offered something for a head ache and can't tell the difference between Advil and E? What happens when your son gets an STD because he didn't fully understand the concept of birth control? Leaving your children uneducated and ignorant is the worst way you can abuse them.
I see girls here all the time. Girls your childs age who are pregnant, because their parents were too absorbed in themselves to educate their children. And school systems too sheltered to realize that the age children are losing their virginity is getting younger and younger by the year. And you may tell your children that if they have any questions about sex they can ask you. But a 14 year old girl is not going to share with her father new words she learned at school but doesn't yet know (and you probably don't either).
I did not participate in any discussion, except maybe make fun of what Mark woke up next to. There was no consent to give, I was reading. I didn't cyber with anyone. Nobody tried to cyber with me once they found out my age.
I found out about sex and drugs and alcohol on the internet for the most part. I thought it was slightly more traumatizing when my friend in 6th grade O.D.ed.
And btw: Stop using me as your pity case. It's insulting, "bullying," and pissing me off.
