If it were only about imaginary friends, I could turn a blind eye to it; to each his own. Oh, but it gets so much sillier, and yet at the same time more earnest, than that! Some people will kill you for putting a slosh of rum in your eggnog, or for going about in public with so much as an eyebrow uncovered, or for educating your daughters. Sheesh.
Very true

I feel another thread sneaking it's way into the GF.

There is reality, and there is our understanding of it.

The gods thing is kind of stupid. We need to grow up, if we are important.
Paraphrasing:

There is truth and reality. We can't access the former in general, just the later.

So we can't make absolute Statements about the existence or non-existence of God.

I heard this idea before that those who profess believe in a deity are childish. Maybe its true, I dunno, but so what if it is,
"Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

Agreed
But if we assume a god we can make deductions of his character based on the evidence around us.
Perhaps we can then eliminate some versions?

Is that true?

If there is no truth, does it follow then that everything is a lie?

That is my problem. I'm okay with whatever peaceful beliefs people have, unless they think they have to save my soul. Then I think, what kind of gods do you have?

It is the noisy believers that bother me. How come they don't know that they don't know what happens when we die?

That mystery includes the hard atheists, btw.

Is it true that everything is a lie?

If so, then "everything is a lie" is a lie.
