Hi all, my sister called me today and said her comp had this
annoying popup called winfixer which I researched and it seems
to be a 'disabled' windows scanner and fixer but you have to first
buy it, but 'it' turns out to be just the scanner portion then after the
scan it asks you to pay yet another fee to actually fix problems.
On some of the geek sites it seems associated with a trojan
called Vundo. Anyone hear of either of these progs?
Looking for a simple solution to kill it. The solutions given on the
geek sites are very long and involved including a download of at least
two programs, one for vundo. I know about Trojan Hunter, word on
the street seems to be its the best one to root out trojans so I
e'd them a query to see if they have heard of Vundo but no answer
yet. Anyone with info about this scumware would be appreciated.

If she's using IE, tell her to stop.

What's wrong with IE? I use it, and I'm perfectly fine.

Do you ever come out with more than useless one-liners?
Take a look at the post before yours, notice any differance?

Excellent advice, Bmann.

Firefox is much, much better, with never a pop-up.
