Win 10, bing comes in unbidden and I have to futz with it to get to Chrome or whatever.
I looked looked up the methods and so far no good.
The only one left is the one talking about getting rid of it in registryedit.
Haven't done that yet.
But all the instructions I did see didn't pan out, I can't find Bing anywhere in my system, in add or remove programs and the like, nothing.
I have Win 10 and use Edge by choice, having migrated from Firefox.
It's easy to change the default search provider from the factory set Bing to Google or Duckduckgo or whatever you want. Chrome, which I don't use, probably comes with Google search. Just google "change default search provider" and follow the instructions for whatever browser you use.
i don't know. can't change mine either.
Settings
Default browser
Microsoft Edge is your default browser {then there is a box with 'make default' you cannot change]
I don't want to change mine.
Change your default search engine
1. Select Settings and more > Settings > Advanced .
2. Scroll down to Address bar search, and select Change search provider.
3. Select your preferred search engine in the list, and then select Set as default.
1. doesn't work, can't get to advanced....
@sonhouse saidBing comes up when I first turn the computer on. I have no idea why perhaps I hit a button looking at it I can't remember. All I do is just Close it and I don't see it the rest of the day even if I turn computer off and then go back on.

I am no Code Monkey, but don't think it is a big deal. Russ may know more about this if you are concerned about it.
We lost our power last night and I couldn't get on the computer for a while. But everyone will be so happy to know I am back now! 🙂

It's easy? like HOW?
I want duckduckgo to be my default, screw google and bing. right now I have a tab on favorites bar that has the ddg. it works but I'm lazy, I want it there as soon as I open a new tab. thanks in advance.
In Edge browser:
Three dots menu (upper right corner)
Settings
Type "search engine" in the search box at upper right.
Of the results returned, click on "Address bar and search".
"Search engine used in the address bar" has a dropdown menu to the right.
"Manage search engines" will let you add one that is not already listed in that dropdown menu.
@kevin-eleven saidI did that and set google as my search engine.

Microsoft edge is my default browser and has lots of news and links to recently opened websites at the top.
@executioner-brand saidI'm going to pass on the search-engine question, though.
kevins on the right track.
Maybe someone who actually uses Edge can come up with the answer.
(I use Opera.)
