Go to "search" on your computer and type "system restore" then restore your computer to any earlier date; when everything was working good. It claims that it's supposed to undo any harmful changes to your computer. I'm not sure if it'll really remove a virus but it doesn't hurt to try, right? Maybe also check out "www.webroot.com". You can get a free spyware & virus scan there. Good luck!
I went to work in NJ like I do, gone for a week and I come back, the kids have been on the comp going to god only knows what sites and now the router is going nuts, there is something either coming or going as fast as it can. Anyone know some kind of monitor prog that can see what the heck is going in and out the router?
The comp is going slower too, so there must be some kind of virus but not sure how to proceed.

I scanned with the free version of AVG and all it came up with was a bunch of cookies. big deal. no effect on the uploads. I also ran Trojan
hunter and it found one spyware adware somthing that had no effect when it killed it. I am even having trouble typing because so much cpu is being used. According to my service provider it has been uploading at the r ...[text shortened]... connection so I may do that after I get some scans online like they said. This sucks BIGTIME.
Also, don't forget to download all your current updates for your definitions on all your Virus and spyware programs. Close all your unnecessary ports with your firewall also. If that doesn't work for you maybe you can go to the help section and ask there. There are some pretty good tech guys there.
The problem typing sounds like you are running out of memory. How much ram do you have.
Originally posted by Dr StrangeloveI tried the Panda thing, big waste of time, it went all the way through, the sign says it scans and disinfects free, nope. At the end it says, for 13 bucks we will disinfect. I don't want to be sending credit card info through an infected comp thank you very much! Anyone know one that scans and disinfects from download for free?
You do have Anti-Virus stuff installed too, don't you?
Anyway, you could do an online virus/spyware scan first.
Somewhere like:

or

And maybe clean out all the crap with

It is the best and it will remove an infection for free. In fact, the free version found two spyware programs that my $50 anti-spyware program couldn't see.
Here is my suggestion, What Mr. Strangelove et al suggested would be correct.
Also download ZoneAlarm’s free firewall and install, but choose the manual option to allow programmes access.
This will show what has access to the network from your machine, then disable the programmes which you might suspect being the trouble.
(To do this, once installed, double left click on the “ZA” in the system tray, click “program control” on the left, then the “programs” tab top right, here you will see what has been granted or restricted).
Incidentally, if you have a router, it already has a firewall and will protect to a certain extent.
If you require any further assistance please don’t hesitate in contacting us.
Bestest regards

Your Internet port 139 does not appear to exist!
One or more ports on this system are operating in FULL STEALTH MODE! Standard Internet behavior requires port connection attempts to be answered with a success or refusal response. Therefore, only an attempt to connect to a nonexistent computer results in no response of either kind. But YOUR computer has DELIBERATELY CHOSEN NOT TO RESPOND (that's very cool!) which represents advanced computer and port stealthing capabilities. A machine configured in this fashion is well hardened to Internet NetBIOS attack and intrusion.
Unable to connect with NetBIOS to your computer.
All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.
Cheers Macks! 🙂

Something else I noticed whilst checking around, if anybody can help.
I'm currently running CatiaV5 and obviously explorer. I'm also downloading a film from ForumW via flashget.
When I check my task manager it only shows Catia and explorer as running. Is flashget download not a task??......why does it not show it as running when I can clearly see it is??.......

There is a price if you want the professional edition, but get the free version, it's really good.
Disconnect your computer from all lines, download avast from another computer, install.
It offers a boot scan which cleans everything before windows starts up. Once windows starts many viruses can avoid deletion or detection by hiding as a process, but the boot scan gets them before they 'switch on'.
It's a very effective tool, and updates itself daily. Also includes an in-built roll-back program as standard. Ad aware personal from lavasoft is excellent too against spyware etc. With these two programs, (free) and weekly scans, you'll have no more problems.

@Pavlo87. I think you'll find that System Restore won't remove a virus - in fact it can actually restore it after you have got rid of it. That's why they advise purging all restore points when you are finished cleaning.

Also, a complete reinstall of Widows is a bit drastic in my opinion best kept as a last resort.
