before reading an article about the subject i believed that prostitution was legal in the entire state of nevada. but this is not the case, why?

i thought every state in america had their own laws about certain things and it was the full state that was affected by each law. not random pockets within the state.

very close to reno there lays legal brothels were TChex regularly goes to talk to the girls, they won't let him pay for sex with them but he gets his 'i've talked to a girl today and she didn't slap me in the face' fix. of course he gets charged more than you or i would for spending an hour with the prostitute anything goes all holes fair.

but if he lived in vegas, where prostitution in illegal he would have a bit of a drive to get his fix, this seems unfair to me. not as much as amsterdam but nevada is famous for it's legal prositution but it's not actually the case. because of it's availability within the state does this not lead to a higher rate of illegal prostitution in vegas than in other cites in a state of america where is it deemed immoral and illegal? resulting in a lot of social backdrops, woman forced into 'seedy' prostitution, pimps making a mint off them and basically turning it into a bit of a crap hole of a city in parts?

Well what can you do? πŸ™
It's not good either way, legal; it's a profit making legit business, and morals decline. ilegal; the state has the law behind them to arrest but there's no saftey for those involved. Prostitution will always be around, there's not getting away from the demand and supply.

legal or illegal, immoral or a money making machine, forced or entered into freely prostitution is always going to be around. as long as there are guys willing to pay for what their wives, girlfriends or cats can't/won't do there will be prostitution.

the thing is how to deal with it, make it legal and improve the lives of the woman in the business and their safety plus make a more regulated government form of profit system. or make it illegal, resulting in the way it is now in many cites around the world, woman forced into prostitution against there will, over inflated prices, scams with little of the money going to the actual prostitute. instead their pimp, a fat bald mexican guy (we'll call him seitse) with a chain around his neck the size of a small scarf is making all the money to pay for his crack addiction.

doesn't it make sense to legalise if in every country around the world?

amsterdam is one of the most respected cites in europe, other places would learn a lot from that place.

I know. Embarrasing. Good thing my dream isn't to be an English teacher.

I totally agree with you here, legal is best. But even legal there's proberly some who are being exploited. I haven't done any research but just based on human nature I imiagine there is becasue there can't be many women that'd want to do that job.

For the love of Pete, when talking about such things as prostitution we might as well talk about other "sins" such as illicit drug use and gambling. In fact, I think the world would be much better place with prostitution, gambling, and illicit drug use at the tips of the fingers of society at large. It would be the ideal utopia of utopias. So lets get it on!!!!

From what I've just read in wiki, the state of Nevada allows legal prostitution (brothels) in any county that has a population below a specific number. If a county exceeds the number, they cannot have legal prostitution.

If a county meets that population figure it is then up to that county government to decide if they want to allow brothels in their county. It is also the responsibility of the county government to enforce medical inspection requirements and any other regulations, if they choose to have brothels.

So maybe that answers why it isn't legal in the entire state.
